About "YUMEKOBAKO"

"YUMEKOBAKO" is known as a small production of old-fashioned performing arts, based on Kitakyusyu-city, Fukuoka, Japan. We have performed in many community events, festivals, schools and homes since 1997, received the Kitakyusyu Volunteer Award in 2008.

Our performance is consist of a variety of family entertainment including Kamishibai, Fukuwajyutsu, Magic and Monologue. With those shows, the purpose of our activities is creating community networks and developing them.


Types of Performances

Kami-shibai : Table theater, Paper drama

With some pictures, a storyteller acts out the parts of each character with different voices and facial expressions.

Fukuwa-jyutsu : Ventriloquism, Ventriloquy

With some puppets, a ventriloquist manipulates his or her voice so that it appears that the voice is coming from elsewhere.

Tejina : Magic

A magician creates small illusions manipulating various props.

Koe-shibai : Story-telling, Monologue

Without any pictures, a storyteller acts out the parts of each character with different voices and facial expressions.

Rokyoku-kijyutsu : Magic with Singing

A kind of magic performed with Rokyoku singing. Rokyoku is a traditional Japanese narrative singing with strange voice expression.
